About the guest:
Shannon Bryan didn't hike or paddle or do yoga with goats when she was growing up in the Chicago suburbs. But after she moved to Maine in 2005, she couldn't resist the lure of Maine's woods and waters. Not to mention all those funky fitness classes, which sometimes include goats.
She spent 10 years at MaineToday Media (now Masthead Maine) as a content producer for mainetoday.com, covering all sorts of entertaining things to do, from bar crawls and brunches to paint nights and burlesque. On weekends, she explored Maine's coast and inland waters, planted her feet on mountain summits, bought a road bike and a mountain bike and a paddleboard and tried ice climbing and fly fishing and a whitewater canoe race. And she loved all of it - even the stuff she was pretty bad at.
Fit Maine was born out of that love for Maine's outdoors and for the experiences anyone can have trying something new, getting physical in entertaining ways, and realizing that "being fit" isn't always about feats at the gym or stamina on the treadmill - it’s about being able to do all the cool stuff there is to do around Maine. Fitmaine.com was launched in 2015 as a resource for cool ways to work out and be active. In 2019, Shannon launched the Fit Maine Social Club, where members go do active stuff together.

If you can show that you're a real person and this is what you're really about and talk to the people you're talking to in a way that's genuine, well, that's worth all the money in the world.” – Shannon Bryan, Founder of Fit Maine and the Fit Maine Social Club
